COUNCIL bosses are urging the public to overcome their app-athy and use smart phones and iPads to report problems.

The authority’s Looking Local app was trumpeted by Wrexham Council last year as a great way to report a range of social issues via the web.

But although there have been a few reports trickling into the council, local feeling is the app has so far failed to spark the public’s interest.

Downloading the app makes it easier to report litter, dog fouling, fly tipping, pot holes and road repairs and anti-social behaviour – residents can also send photos as evidence.

However this particular technological revolution may be in need of a cyber jump-start, though the council insists it is popular. [...]

Mae dolen i’r app iPhone yma. Os wyt ti’n chwilio am yr app Android mae’n rhaid mynd i’r tudalen Saesneg am ryw reswm.

Dau problem gyda’r strategaeth yma:

1. Mae potensial i’r syniad o app symudol yn enwedig os mae rhywun eisiau adrodd problem tra bod nhw yn crwydro’r strydoedd (mewn theori). Ond mae platfform gyda lot mwy o bobol nag iPhone ac Android, sef Y WE. Ac mae’r we yn symudol hefyd i ryw raddau trwy 3G a fersiynau symudol. Mae’n rhaid ystyried app ar y we (web app) yn sgil apps symudol brodorol. Yn y cyd-destun yma byddwn i byth yn lansio app symudol brodorol cyn app ar y we. Ond byddwn i drio rhywbeth syml fel cyfeiriad ebost cyn ystyried app, sy’n ddrud.

2. Mae’r cyngor yn defnyddio Looking Local, sef system Prydeinig, felly does dim fersiwn Cymraeg ar gael. Oh diar.
